In 1995 I designed a two story family home that included a psychologist's office. Having had no formal training, it was a long, nerve wracking and often arduous process. It was also an exceptionally rewarding one. I used an early version of Microsoft Paint (The imaging program included with Windows 3.1) and by counting pixels produced proportional drawings which were later turned to blueprints by a professional engineer. I will write a more detailed account of the process eventually and post it here.

I have also done a number of apartment renovations in New York City. With space always at a premium I have concentrated on meeting living requirements with a minimum of impact on openness. The above shelving unit serves to divide a studio apartment in to a separate sleeping area and living/dining/entertaining area while keeping the space as flowing as possible.
